An introduction to Brazilian literature, culture and society, highlighting major historical events from the colonial, imperial, and national periods. Taking a critical look at the ways literary, cinematic and cultural movements have contributed to the discussions surrounding the formation of the Brazilian national imaginary, we will particularly focus on representations of race and gender.
