APST 146 - Classical Opera Study

Students will learn an entire operatic role written in Classical style, and perform the piece in a concert or semi-staged version.  The main thrust of the project involves solidifying techniques for accurately and efficiently learning recitativo secco.  The two pieces to be coached (Galuppi’s II Filosofo di Campagna and Salieri’s Prima la musica e poi le parole) are each about one hour long, include 4-5 performers each, and include recit, solos, and ensemble work.
