Coral reefs are dynamic systems that boast the greatest diversity on Earth today. This interdisciplinary course considers the development of modern and fossil reefs over scales of microns to miles and minutes to millennia. It also examines recent reef decline against the backdrop of long-term natural processes to better understand how things like climate change affect our ability to craft effective mitigation strategies that take into account both natural and human-initiated stresses.
