HIST 215 - The Chicana/o Movement Semester Offered: First Semester Full Course Credits: 4 Credits Attribute: 4SS, CD
This course examines the complex, variegated, and often contradictory history and aims of “El Movimiento” or the Chicano Movement from the period 1965-1985. We will move both historically and thematically, examining such issues as: changing political/ spiritual ideologies, major events (ie Plan de Santa Barbara), coalitional politics with other ethnic-based activist groups (ie Young Lords, Black Panthers), gender relations, popular iconography, and contemporary historical legacies.
