In this course we will examine trends in contemporary Italian literature such as the giallo or crime thriller, the negotiation of national identity in a newly multi-cultural society, and the representation of mother-daughter relationships. We will read works by Dacia Maraini, Andrea Camilleri, Gianrico Carofiglio, Antonio Tabucchi, Amara Lakhous, and Elena Ferrante, among others.
