GERM 421 - Reading Franz Kafka (Kafka lesen) Semester Offered: First Semester Full Course Credits: 4 credits Attribute: 4HU
Guided by interpretive approaches from the disciplines of history, literary studies, and philosophy, this seminar explores the writings and legacy of Franz Kafka. Alongside a selection of Kafka’s texts, the course will also address film, art and literary works inspired by Kafka. Major topics will include the body, law and power, Judaism, modernity, art and the artist, animals, and the family. Taught in German. Enrollment Limit: 16 Instructor: Staff Prerequisites & Notes Prerequisite: Two 300-level German courses or instructor’s consent.
