HIST 320 - The Emergence of Modern Jewish Politics in a Comparative Perspective, 1848-1948 Semester Offered: Second Semester Full Course Credits: 4 Credits Attribute: 4HU
The course focuses primarily on three centers - Eastern Europe, the United States, and the Middle East. We will look at how different movements sought to solve what was called “The Jewish Question”. We will look at how the various forces on the Jewish street sought to settle that question. Moreover, the questions and situations faced by Jewish ideologies and political movements were often, quite literally, a matter of life or death. Enrollment Limit: 15 Instructor: G.
