ARTS 374 - Art in France and Britain of the Long 19th Century Semester Offered: Second Semester Full Course Credits: 4 credits Attribute: 4HU, WINT
Focusing on Europe, but addresssing art of the United States, this course serves as an introduction to the movements of Neoclassicism, Romanticism, Realism, Impressionism, and Neo-Impressionism, and offers a close consideration of how artists navigated relationships of collective and individual; center and periphery; gender, race, and class; political crisis and revolution; and landscape and industry in the changing world of modernity.
