POLT 272 - The Elections of 2016

This class will focus on many of the legal issues that are being raised in the 2016 elections, especially in the selection of the major parties’ Presidential nominees.  We will delve into current issues and debates about American politics, including money and campaign finance and its proposed reforms.  We will explore the legal issues of voting, the structuring of primaries, caucuses, and the nominating processes of American political parties. We will consider media issues, especially those regarding fact checking and conflicts of interest.  Since the Ohio primary will occur during this semester, we may spend significant time studying these issues in Ohio.
