‘Africana Philosophy’ is a survey course that explores the tradition of philosophical speculation among the communities of the Africana world. Important to the course is the question of ‘what is philosophy’ and ‘what is a philsopher’ in the context of Africana life. The course will examine major texts, writers and diverse schools of thought that explore race, politics, identity, sexuality, and other areas of speculation. Enrollment Limit: 25 Instructor: C.
