CNST 103 - Community Engagement For Musicians Next Offered: Fall 2016 Semester Offered: First Semester Full Course Credits: 4 Credits Attribute: CNDP
Conservatory majors and college Musical Studies majors are invited to enroll in this CNST course, which will examine community engagement and professional development. Students will be introduced to service learning, teaching artistry, and methods for partnering with community organization. Professional development topics such as budgets, grant writing, and creating relationships with donors will be covered. Diverse models for community engagement will be studied, and students will engage with community partner to create a short-term, sustainable project. Class time will involve two 75-minute classes in module 1, and one 75-minute class in module II. Individual meetings with instructors and community partners will replace the second class period in module II. Those enrolled in this course can expect to spend 2-3 hours/week outside of class on their community project. Enrollment Limit: 20 Instructor: L. Zeitlin & D.
