ARTS 035 - Problems: Articulating Artistic Methods for Research-based Practice Semester Offered: First Semester, Second Module Half Course Credits: 2 Credits Attribute: 2HU
This course will introduce some of the various methodologies developed in the field of research-based practices in the arts. Through exercises that employ various strategies including context, audience, and collectivity, students will address concepts such as appropriation, abstraction, performativity, participation, fiction, and speculation. Students will create an archive of approaches from which they can articulate their own art making praxis. Readings, discussion, and research are an active part of the course. Students’ research will culminate in an exhibition at the Richard D. Baron Gallery. Enrollment Limit: 10 Instructor: I. Oztat Consent of the Instructor Required: Yes
