FREN 312 - In Search of Lost Women: Digital Humanities Lab Semester Offered: Second Semester Full Course Credits: 4 Credits Attribute: 4HU, CD
Through a case study of the figure of the prostitute, students examine the discourses, media, practices, and spatial configurations through which gendered social identities were constructed in 19th century France. Student teams conduct research on subtopics and craft online exhibits. Skills developed include textual and visual analysis, translation, project management, digital presentation, and short-form writing for web publication. Historical readings, museum visits, and collaboration with SOCI 338.
