PACE 103 - Community Music Engagement in the Schools Next Offered: Spring Semester Semester Offered: Second Semester FC Credits: 4 Credits Attribute: CNDP
This course is designed for prospective artist-teachers who will explore community music engagement in the schools. Topics include: (1) specific music-making strategies for teaching in diverse teaching settings with diverse music learners; (2) hands-on music-making experiences outside of traditional ensembles and solo performances; (3) music repertoire and resources for teaching music in a variety of music teaching settings; (4) foundations and current trends of music teaching and learning in global contexts; and (5) strategies for becoming effective communicators and facilitators. Guest speakers (local and via distance learning) will highlight topics explored in class. A community music engagement project will occur in Lorain County Schools. Enrollment Limit: 15 Instructor: J.
