Anton Chekhov’s dramas revitalized drama in Russia in the early 20th centuries and quickly established their place in the international stage repertory. We will read major and lesser-known works by Anton Chekhov, along with some introductory works by other playwrights to examine a particularly northern mode of theatrical naturalism that developed in and around Russia over the course of the twentieth century.
