Perspectives on a selection of authors, literary works, and cultural and historical developments shaping modern French literature. Students develop distinct strategies and vocabularies for reading, discussing, and writing about works of poetry, prose fiction, and drama. Secondary readings and lectures situate works in their appropriate historical and critical contexts. Students follow a process approach to writing involving peer editing and multiple revisions.
