THEA 277 - American Drama Semester Offered: Second Semester Full Course Credits: 4 credits Attribute: 4HU, CD, WINT
Selected works of major American playwrights. Emphasis will be placed on close reading, as well as on the significance of each play in regard to political and social movements of the time and the evolution of the American theater. Among the playwrights to be considered: Odets, O’Neill, Williams, Hellman, Albee, Shepard, Baraka, Bullins, Fornes, Kushner. Please note: Not open to students who have taken ENGL 365. Cross-referenced with CAST. Prerequisite & Notes: Students should have completed a Writing Intensive course or gained Writing Certification in any course in the humanities.
