JWST 103 - Shared Languages Program: Elementary Modern Hebrew I Semester Offered: First Semester Full Course Credits: 4 credits Attribute: 4HU, CD
This course, taught by Prof. Galit Golan at the Ohio State University, introduces students to the fundamentals of modern
Hebrew. Oberlin students will meet via the video-conferencing platform, Zoom. Taught primarily in Hebrew. This course teaches
reading and writing in Hebrew print and cursive letters. It exposes students to the grammatical foundations of the Hebrew
language as a gender-oriented, root-based language. After acquiring basic reading and writing skills, students will learn to form
different types of simple sentences in Hebrew, hold short conversations, and write short dialogues about immediate topics
around them, such as their schooling, place of living, and food.
