DANC 108 - Embodiment Through Yoga

Semester Offered: First Semester, Second Module
Half Course
Credits: 2 credits
Attribute: 2HU

Our bodies do not lie. In a culture where we tend to look at ourselves from the outside in, yoga teaches us to live from the inside out. To peel away the layers that bind us and live from a place of strength and authenticity. We are born as embodied beings, but as our higher mind evolves, we move away from this embodied, sensory knowledge as guide, and instead rely just on our intellect to make our way through the world. By connecting inwards to our bodies, we go back to the place deep inside, where we find the space and the stillness to connect to our intuition, our purpose, our power and our true connection with others. This class will offer you a firm foundation in the basics of yoga philosophy, breath and movement through a strong vinyasa krama practice (a “wise progression” of postures) . It will teach you the tools to take these practices off the mat into your daily life where the real yoga happens. A means to become more fully embodied and live a richer life. It is a safe space for all levels.

Enrollment Limit: 20
Instructor: C. Pearson-Lane
