GERM 397 - Grünes DeutschlandMode(s) of Instruction: Remote FC ARHU CD 4 credits This is a Shared Languages Program course taught by Professor Lee Forrester from Hope College. The course offers an overview of environmentalist ideas in the German-speaking world. We will look at “green waves” throughout history and culture using a variety of materials. We will also explore the links between environmental and other social movements as well as the interconnections between environmental concerns, technological developments, and politics. Students discuss both culture-specific aspects of Germany’s environmentalist path and transnational developments such as the influence of EU policies and how they compare to approaches in the US. Taught in German. Prerequisites & Notes: GERM 204 or 4 semesters college German or equivalent strongly recommended Course Last Offered/Scheduled: Fall 2020
