AAST 265 - We Real Cool: Considering Afrofuturism in Black PerformancesFC ARHU CD 4 credits An examination of Afrofuturism and black performance studies. Students will have an introduction to Afrofuturism as a method of interrogation as it appears in various forms of cultural production. Students will examine how Afrofuturist aesthetics and embodied performance knowledge intersect and inform each other in music, dance, art, and film. Included will be examples from South Africa, the US, Kenya, Jamaica, and other places in the African Diaspora.
