ENGL 206 - Shakespearean TragedyFC ARHU WINT 4 credits Intrigue, heartache, existential despair, violence, madness, guilt, shame, grief, jealousy, revenge, murder: the themes of England’s great playwright, writing at the peak of his artistic achievement. Through a careful reading of the plays, we will discover Shakespeare’s remarkable achievements as a tragedian; the course will also provide a sense of the vital world of early modern England, and theoretical considerations of Tragedy as a genre.
