GERM 371 - The Artist as Mediator: Peter Stephan Jungk’s Writing Between History and FictionHC ARHU CD 2 credits As an author of books, screenplays, newspaper columns and an annotated blog, Peter Stephan Jungk creates stories that mediate ably and appealingly between history and fiction. His storytelling also engages with different forms of art and narrative, from music to (auto)biography, from documentary film to theater and opera. Students will get to know Jungks writing and films, as well as art inspired by them, including Philip Glasss opera, The Perfect American. This course will culminate in a weeklong visit by the artist to Oberlin, in which students will take an active role. Taught in English.
