POLT 232 - European Political Theory: Rousseau & AfterFC SSCI 4 credits How did political thought develop from the 18th to the mid-20th century? Does it still matter today? We will pay particular attention to critiques of Enlightenment that emerge in this period; to questions about the meaning of politics and its relationship to history; and to questions of freedom, political economy, bureaucracy and totalitarianism, among others. Authors may include: Rousseau, Burke, J. S. Mill, Marx, Nietzsche, Weber, and Arendt.
