CRWR 244 - Humor Writing

Who says dissecting a joke can’t be funny? This course will focus on reading and generating short humor pieces. We will discuss a variety of established humor writers, genres, and tropesusing these texts as scaffolding for weekly writing assignments and occasional presentations. We will additionally examine students individual relationships to humor, as well its cultural and sociopolitical significance. Due to the transgressive nature of some comedy, this course requires students to engage critically with controversial material.
