SOCI 130 - Introduction to Sociology: Social ProblemsFC SSCI 4 credits This course is an introduction to the basic concepts, theoretical perspectives, and social themes in contemporary sociology. Topics of discussion and research include stratification, ascriptive processes and the social construction of public problems. We will consider what is distinctive about a sociological perspective on the world and discuss the nature of sociological description and explanation. This course is appropriate for new students.
