SOCI 351 - Protest, Resist, Change!: Collective Behavior and Social MovementsFC SSCI 4 credits Why do people protest? What makes a social movement? Why do some people decide to join? Why do others decide not to? What makes a movement last? What is the relationship between social movements and culture, media, policing? This course is designed to explore some of these questions. Using sociological concepts we examine a variety of movements in the United States and beyond and explore the ways in which social movements are discussed and understood in sociological literature.
