GERM 333 - The Deviant Body in German Literature & FilmFC ARHU CD 4 credits This course examines fictional representations of the human body in order to study changing concepts of normalcy and difference. Exploring a spectrum of characters ranging from the grotesque or monstrous to the disfigured, disabled, or ill, students will consider the aesthetic, social, and historical factors that attach meaning to the nonconforming body. Discussions will cover German prose, poetry, drama, painting, and film from the mid-nineteenth century to the present. Prerequisites & Notes: Optional film screenings will be held on Mondays from 7-9 p.m
