There are few times in life more dynamic with change than being a teenager, and few books that capture our hearts and imaginations like YA fiction. As writing for young adults is just beginning to establish itself in the literary world as its own art form and developing fans beyond its namesake audience, this class will consider what if anything separates YA from works aimed at general audiences. Well study a variety of narrative forms, realistic and genre-based, classic and contemporary, and explore various technical and craft choices through writing exercises and a creative portfolio.
