HIST 291 - Antisemitism in European History and LiteratureFC SSCI CD 4 credits This course examines the origins, functions, and expressions of European anti-Jewish thought from early Christianity to the postwar period. Beginning with ancient intercultural conflicts, it then explores early Christian religious competition, medieval Judeophobia, and modern, racial antisemitism. Students are expected to gain an understanding of the structures and outcomes of specifically anti-Jewish prejudice as well as to make connections with the historical oppression of other minority groups.
