ECON 246 - Chinese Economic HistoryFC SSCI CD QFR 4 credits This course provides an introduction to the distinct characteristics of the Chinese economy, discussing its long-term development from 500 BCE to 1911 CE. In addition to learning historical facts, we will grapple with theories of economic development and use them to analyze Chinese economic history. We will cover topics on Chinese politics and culture in the latter half of the course, as these are tightly intertwined with the economy. The ultimate goal of this course is to help us form a deeper understanding of the China we see today. Prerequisites & Notes: Econ 101.
