POLT 225 - U.S. Foreign Policy and the Anti-Apartheid MovementFC SSCI CD 4 credits This course considers theories and practices of: African apartheids, collaboration across countries by anti-apartheid activists; NATO’s role protecting white African regimes (Angola, Mozambique, Namibia, Rhodesia and South Africa); the roles of Cuba, China, and the USSR regarding apartheid; the US Congress and Presidents JFK to GHW Bush and Africa; the “front-line states” and the UN; two Oberlin College anti-apartheid African leaders - John Dube and Eduardo Mondlane.
