ENVS 246 - Practicum in Community Climate Resilience Planning in the City of Oberlin

FC SSCI
4 credits
How do cities adapt, transform and thrive in ways that are equitable, just and retain essential community character in the face of the substantial and inevitable climate disruption that will characterize our future? Students in this class will help to address this question by collaborating closely with the City of Oberlin’s “Resilience Task Force”, composed of representatives from municipal government and leading community organizations (schools, hospital, community services, business, faith community, etc.). Group projects will further develop the City’s resilience plan.  Students will gain an understanding of resilience theory and conceptual modeling tools as well as more applied knowledge necessary to assist in planing for resilience in food, shelter, water, health care, and emergency systems.
