GREK 223 - Lucian and Imperial Greek IFC ARHU CD 4 credits Space travel and interplanetary warfare, shipwrecks and a trip to the underworld! In this course, students will read Lucian’s fast-paced and genre-bending True Histories as well as selections from other Imperial Greek authors, such as Plutarch, Pausanias, and Dio Chrysostom. Students will read these texts in their original Greek language and will study the grammar and style of the Greek authors. The course will also explore issues of genre and identity through secondary scholarship.
Course meets concurrently with GREK 323. Intermediate students should enroll in GREK 223; advanced students should enroll in GREK 323. Course requirements will differ according to level. Prerequisites & Notes: Greek 102 or equivalent
