DANC 301 - Contemporary Repertoire

HC ARHU
2 credits
In this course, dancers will build on technique training and learn to apply it to choreography and performance. Class will consist of a short fast paced warm-up followed by rehearsal of advanced choreography from the repertoire of the instructor. Classes will address the specific needs of each dancer while also pushing movement quality, stamina and performance capabilities. Students will learn strategies and skills to “think in movement” (be able embody new movement ideas quickly without having to “stop and think”), become more articulate and precise movers by honing the specific details, qualities and nuances of movement, embody constructive feedback and integrate technical skills with personal presence. Class will include or culminate in performances.
Prerequisites & Notes: May be repeated for credit. DANC 200 or 300 with the same instructor is recommended as a prerequisite but is not required. Students must get consent to register for the course.
