BIOL 341 - Cell Signaling and PathobiologyFC NSMA 4 credits Cell Signaling and Pathobiology examines the smallest living unit of life (the cell) through concepts ranging from cell structure and function to cellular pathways and processes that lead to pathologies such as cancer, diabetes mellitus, and cardiovascular disease. The course will include discussions on primary scientific literature, writing assignments, and student presentations of assigned papers that have been seminal to the fields of cell signaling and pathobiology.The laboratory component of the course will focus on cell and molecular biology techniques such as cell culturing, DNA and protein analysis, and data interpretations to answer cell biology questions associated with disease.
