FYSP 132 - Ready Player 2: Video Games, Subjectivity, and Our WorldFC ARHU WINT 4 credits This seminar will examine how video games impact player subjectivity- one’s sense of self, identity, and capacity to create change in the world, as well as why and how video games intersect with race, class, gender, sexuality, economics, nationalism, mental health, brain chemistry and structure, violence and war, and political power and organization. We will interrogate the capacity of video games to create positive change in our world and ourselves and to reinforce hierarchies of inequality. This class does NOT require any prior knowledge of video games and is designed to be driven by discussion, teamwork, open-mindedness, and positive collaboration.
