CINE 173 - American Cinema 1966-1990FC ARHU 4 credits This course is about American Cinema from 1966-1990, an era in which younger directors changed how movies were made and what they were about, largely, though not exclusively, from within the shell of Old Hollywood. Students will study the late 1970 and early 1980 in which “indie,” or independent cinema, became an important factor in American movies, marked by filmmakers working outside the Hollywood system, especially women and Black directors. This course is appropriate for new students.
