DANC 221 - Body Re-Education and Functional Anatomy

In the context of this course, students will learn to identify musculoskeletal anatomy and will become familiar with movement vocabulary. Through daily experiantial labs, students will evaluate body movement and will improve their ability to see and analyze movement from a neuromuscular perspective. As students learn and understand joint and muscle anatomy in each body region, they will also learn to identify instability and rigidity and techniques to correct movement problems and optimize physical performance. Finally, students will also learn about wholistic lifestyle choices they can make that will contribute to creating better movement and posture. As an optimal outcome, participants will acquire new ways to understand movement that can contribute to lifelong health and comfort, and that can enhance training and performance in any physical endeavor. Readings are assigned.
