EAST 075 - Japan, Nature, CultureHC ARHU CD 2 credits The course explores cultural dimensions of local and global environmental challenges in Japan. How do people and communities in Japan develop environmental literacy, the ability to understand and take steps to address climate change, plastic pollution, or biodiversity loss? How do arts, media, parks, religious sites, and museums promote knowledge of and connections to natural environments? Students examine interconnections of culture, knowledge of the environment, environmental literacy, and behavior in Japan in historical and contemporary contexts. Enrollment limited to students participating in the Japan, Nature, Culture study trip.
