CRWR 211 - Black to the Future: Speculative Young Adult Fiction

In this course, we will focus on writing young adult speculative fiction (horror, science fiction, fantasy, and supernatural) by examining works by Black writers. Through these texts, students will investigate craft elements such as dialogue, exposition, characterization, and plot while simultaneously applying them to their own fiction projects. A significantly revised portfolio including two works and a critical analysis of the revision process will be turned in at the end of the semester.
