PHIL 228 - Topics in Philosophy of Mind

In this class we survey a variety of philosophical controversies regarding the mental lives of biological organisms and AI. The course is organized around specific mental abilities like perception, emotion, belief, learning, and consciousness. In each case we will engage with topical issues related to the capacity in question. Some background in philosophy or cognitive science is recommended but not required.
