FCNSMAQFR4 credits This course covers the mathematical foundations of modern cryptographic systems. Along with building the necessary number theoretic and computational tools, the focus will be on public key cryptography, including systems based on discrete logarithms and on integer factorization. Additional topics may include the history of cryptography, the data encryption standard, elliptic curves, and lattice-based cryptography. Prior or concurrent enrollment in CSCI 150 is highly recommended.
