FREN 101 - Français élémentaire I

This first semester of a year-long sequence builds proficiency in listening, speaking, reading, and writing. Special emphasis is placed on meaning and the functional use of language and on understanding French-speaking cultures. Course includes extensive homework with interactive multi-media. In addition to the five hours per week of class, students are required to attend the French Table or activities at the Maison Francophone on a regular basis. Prior knowledge of or familiarity with French is not expected; students with previous study of French should consult with the instructor for placement.

This course is appropriate for new students.
