SOCI 345 - Gender, Work, and Labor in a Global Context 4SSFC SSCI CD 4 credits This course takes an intersectional approach to understanding work, labor, and formal and informal economies at a global level. While focusing on gender, Race, class, sexuality, citizenship, and geographic location are also explored. Historical changes in global economies, labor movements, and the changing nature of work and labor are discussed. Issues explored include poverty and inequality, working conditions and human rights, migratory labor, and the impact of technologies on work and the economy. Also covered in the course is the impact of neoliberal policies and practices on groups and individuals.
Prerequisites: 100-Level Sociology course or two social sciences courses.
