ECON 245 - Health EconomicsFC SSCI QFR 4 credits Health care spending accounts for almost 20% of the U.S. economy and is a constant subject of policy debate. This course provides an introduction to economic analysis of the health care sector. Topics covered include: demand for medical care, hospital markets, adverse selection and moral hazard, labor markets for physicians, health care innovation, and economic epidemiology. In the latter part of the course, we will compare three major health policy models in place around the world.
Prerequisites: ECON 101.
