POLT 321 - Technological Change and the (Re)making of World Order
FCSSCIWADV4 credits
The last two centuries have witnessed immense technological and scientific change: the industrial revolution, the rise of telecommunications, modern medicine, aviation, the nuclear age, the exponential power and declining cost of computing, and now the cyber and AI age we are hurtling toward. This revolutionary change cannot be divorced or bracketed from transformations no less significant in international politics. This seminar will center technological and scientific change in order to understand how such innovation not only shapes the world, but in many ways is shaped by the political constraints, and ambitions, of the world as it is.
