FYSP 173 - The French Revolution and the Making of the Modern WorldFC SSCI WINT 4 credits The French Revolution will be studied as a means of understanding the political, social, and cultural origins of modernity. Topics include revolutionary ideology, charismatic leadership, and mass mobilization through appeals to national identity, class, race, and gender. Particular attention will be paid to primary sources and individual research projects. Students should expect to do frequent short presentations, and short papers (written and rewritten).
