BIOL 309 - Ornithology

Birds are the most diverse group of terrestrial vertebrates, with more than 10,000 species. In this course students will learn about the diversity of birds and their ecology, evolution, and biology. The topics in the lectures will be bird physiology, anatomy, morphology, behavior, and ecology and how this is applied to bird conservation. The students will also participate in field and laboratory activities to introduce them to ornithological research and learn bird identification. Field trip(s) required, including some weekend field trips; please bring pants and boots appropriate for all kinds of weather conditions.

Prerequisites: BIOL 200.
