BIOL 423 - Seminar: BiogeographyFC NSMA QFR WADV 4 credits Why do species occur where they do? This question drives much of ecology and systematics and has been studied intensively for over two centuries, yet major controversies concerning the causes of biogeographic patterns remain. Through readings and discussions of the primary literature in ecology, systematics, and conservation, we will explore the causes and consequences of biogeographic patterns in a diverse array of organisms. Students will also gain experience in presenting critical analyses of primary research.
Prerequisites: BIOL 200.
